Janakpur is said to be the birth place of Goddess Sita. She is also known as Janaki. Janaki is consort of Lord Ram. In the hindu’s greatest epic called Ramayan. Janakpur used to be ruled by King Janak. And Sita or Janaki is said to be Dharti mata.
The Legend says when King Janak ploughed the field and Sita was found under the earth. So, King Janak rared her as own daughter. At the palace there was bow which was given by Parshuram to King Janak and while cleaning the house she used to lift it and clean it. King Janak also thought consort of Sita should also lift the bow. There was an context and noboday could lift the bow except the Lord Ram. As he lifted the bow so Prince of Yodhya Ram got married with Sita.
Janaki temple is also called Nau Lakha temple as when Brishbhanu Dev build this temple. It is said to be 9 Lakh gold coin was used to build the temple. It is said to be one of the great pilgrimage. Lot’s of Pilgrim visit this place in Ram Nawami, Bibaha Panchami, Dashami and Tihar.
Next to Janaki temple is Bibaha Mandap where Lord Ram and Goddess Sita got married. The tour also includes Dhanusdham. It is said where one of broken bow fell down, out of three pieces. The driving distance is about 45 km both way. We will be able to see rural community where there are agricultural farms, animal husbandry and many more.

In the case you want to go overland to Janakpur, the total distance one way is 225 km. It is about 20 km to India boarder. We can add other religious tour in Kathmandu, Pokhara, Muktinath.
