Accommodation on city and trek
Accommodation in cities like Kathmandu and Pokhara is medium standard hotels whereas while you are on the trek it is tea houses. Most of the teahouses in Annapurna are with 2 beds. Toilet and Bathroomsare common. So it is more basic than luxury with minimum facilities. Sometimes in peak season like in Annapurna Base Camp and Machhapuchhre base camp the rooms could be sold out. In that condition you might have to sleep in dining hall , which can be a new experience too. Accommodation everywhere is twin sharing. In case of single supplement you have to pay extra.
Food in the trip
Lunch and dinner is not included in cities like Kathmandu and Pokhara. Kathmandu, the transit point of the trek, has lots of hotels and restaurants. The hotel also provides good food. Or if you are staying in Thamel the touristic area of Kathmandu, there are plenty of restaurants serving food of . You can have lunch and dinner at a reasonable price in Thamel as well as in Pokhara too.Whereas when you are on a trek it is good to order the same food when you are in a group. Saves fuel and cost. You can have a choice of food on the trek too. It is good to have soup and liquid items while you are towards high altitude. Please avoid alcoholic beverages and smoke when you are at altitude. Please don’t throw the food.
Guide and Supporter
Both the guide and supporter are helpful, hardworking, friendly and experienced. Normally guides are educated English speakers, they know about people and culture and of course the route of the trek. They are trained in first aid and are well known about high altitude sickness. Most of the supporters understand little English and they are charming. If you need a guide with your own language. The cost be extra. Supporter Treks and Tours wants one trekker, one supporter, that way you will be taken good care of. It is because you are creating a job and you might need to pay little more than the actual
price.
Drinking water while Trekking.
You will have to buy the water. Bottled mineral water is available in most of the places. But it would be a good idea to buy a water purifying tablet from Kathmandu and drink the boiled water on the trek. The higher you go the price of water increases. Please carry a water bottle while you are trekking. Guide, supporters and local people drink the water from the tap which may cause sickness to you.

Dos and Don’t while doing Annapurna Base Camp:
Please do respect the local people and culture. Please don’t litter, dispose of the garbage in the properdustbin. Please try not to use plastic. If you want to keep the environment more clean rather than using plastic bottles, use the boiled water with water purifying tablets. If you are using the batteries please
take it back home.
Respect local culture, custom and People:
There are various ethnic groups of people you meet on the way while trekking to Annapurna base camp. They have rich culture, they have their own attire. Likewise their living style is typical and has its own importance. They feel proud of their culture and they are able to preserve it. So we trekkers need torespect their culture and help them to preserve it.
Coordinate with the guide:
Trekkers need to be responsible. In terms of taking decisions, trekkers can decide it but you have to make sure you take permission or co-ordinate with the guide. Like in the case you are a little sick and you feel like continuing it you may proceed but if you are too weak and you have symptoms of altitude you need to come down. You have to obey the guide. Or in serious issues you might need air lift please do it. Life is more important.
Let’s not waste the food:
It is good to order enough food while you are trekking as your calories are burned while you trek. So you need good enough food but it would be useless if you order too much food and not eat it. Please don’t waste food. While you trek to Annapurana base camp till Chhommorong it is good to take meat itemsand after that you will not come across the village and meat will not be fresh. So it is good to be on vegetarian diet.
Annapurna Base Camp Trek flexibility
Road access to the trek has made the trek shorter. It can be longer too if you walk a few hours on the road. Sometimes while you are trekking and feel you are too fast and skip the trip outline you are allowed to do that but after 3500 meters you are not allowed to skip the itinerary. It can cause problems with altitude. In the case of a group joining you, all teams need to be convinced that you can go ahead.
