Poon Hill is a 3200 meter high mountain situated in Annapurna Region. The villagers staying at Ghorepani are mostly Pun Magar and the hill gots its name from ethnic group called Pun Magar.
It is one of the best view point in Nepal to see the Himalayas. Most of the tourist climb Poon Hill to see the sunrise view over Himalaya. The panaromic view of Himalayas like Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri, Machhapuchhre, Annapurna South, Himchuli, Tukuche, Annapurna IV, Annapurna II, Dhampus, Lamjung Himal and Manaslu range is awesome and specular.

Poon Hill Trek 10 days
Poon hill falls in annapurna region. It is one of the famous trek. One can reach Poon hill in third of trek from Nayapul. On the way to Poonhill we meet small village like Birethanti, tikhedunga, Ulleri and to Ghorepani. Most of the people living here are mongoloid people. Mostly they are Gurung and Magar called Poon. First section of the trail is walking along the river valley and than we got to walk in the forest with cool air. In March you would see colourful hills with Rhododendron flowers. From the Poonhill itself you will be able to more than 15 snow capped peaks. After seeing sunrise view from Poon hill we head towards tadopani and than to Ghandruk. Ghandruk is small Gurung Community where there small museum. We can explore the village by walk. We have option of finishing our trip here or we can walk back to Nayapul to catch the vehicle.
How hard is Poon hill Trek?
Yes, the Poon Hill trek is consider to be short trek which compromise ups and downs and flat land too. If you consider up hill is difficult Tikhedunga to Ghorepani to Poon hill is uphill and on the day to Tadopani from poon hill is also going up. Off course there is downhill too, some tourist find difficulty in walking down hill. So, looking at it there is both uphill and downhill in Poon hill trek. Most of the trek in Nepal we find both up hill and down hill. So, it is not difficult. Just the thing is we have to create a pace, walk slow, stop for break to rest and go.
Why Poon Hill Trek is Best in Autumn and spring?
Weather is nice and pleasant in Autumn and spring season. There is no snowfall in this time of year and weather is warm so, this are the best season for the trek. But as we are going to Poon Hill early morning it is cold we have to wear warm gears like down Jacket, woolen cap and gloves. More and more tourist do trek in this time of year.

The view is amazing from Poon Hill. You will be able to see Himalayas from Ghorepani itself. But view is nicer from Poon hill. You would be able to more than 15 snow capped peaks from Poon hill. How cold is Poon Hill trek?
Poon Hill is at an elevation of 3200m and this is the coldest point on entire trek. As we have to walk from Ghorepani early morning to see the himalays on sunrise time. We have to start walking at around 4 am. So, it is cold. We have to wear warm gears including down jacket, woolen cap and gloves when ever you travel.
