    Upper Mustang lies in Mustang District of Nepal. Till 1992 it was restricted kingdom. The word Mustang came from Tibetan Language which is fertile plan. Tourism, animal husbandry and trade is the main occupation of the people living here. Upper Mustang used to be the ancient trade route in between Nepal and Tibet. People here mostly speak Tibetan Language and they are migrated from Tibet in the past. Lower part are Thakali and they have there own language and they have rich culture. There are lots of Monasteries and Buddhist monuments around Upper Mustang.

    There are plenty of cave and inside painted where life of Buddha is depicted. Climate is semi arid and it is rain shadow area. There are more than 30 settlements. Jomsom the district headquarter of Mustang is gateway to Upper Mustang. We come across world deepest gorge in the world.

    These days there is access to Upper Mustang by road so we can operate you tour. We can still do Mountain biking, also motor bike trip can be done and off course we can trek and explore the hidden treasure of Mustang.

    How easy is Upper Mustang Trek?

    Upper Mustang trek is neither easy nor difficult. Since we have to travel in altitude it is quite difficult. You have to go slow and have proper rest. We can do all trips in Mustang as there is a road access. But trekking is also famous till now. The trek consists of going up hills, down hills crossing the pass. There are also flat lands.

    Economic wise you have to be around USD 1100 based on two two tourist for the permit.

    Which time of the year is best to trek to Upper Mustang?

    Upper Mustang is rain shadow so, even in rainy season it can be trekked. It can be trekked but lower section can be rainy and it might rain in upper section. So, carrying a good rain coat is best solution. Winter you will fetch the snow so it is much nicer. Better carry crampons for safety. We have to plan more warm gears. Spring and Autumn is best to trek to Upper Mustang. In this time the far away views are more clear.

    We will receive you at airport and transfer you to hotel. Evening briefing about the tour.

    Tour to Boudhanath, Pashupatinath and Bhaktapur with tour guide.

    The drive to Pokhara is about 200 km and it will take around 7-8 hour to reach Pokhara. Or flight to Pokhara is about 25 minutes. The drive is also scenic. River valley and mountain view is nice.Pokhara has great view of mountain and has lots of natural resources.

    We will drive to airport of Pokhara to fly to Jomsom. It is 25 minutes to reach Jomosm from Pokhara by flight. Jomsom is district headquarter of Mustang. We will walk for about 12 km and it is 4-5 hours of walk uphill. The landscape is breathtaking and it is arid valley. Here we can visit Buddhist monastery.

    Today we will walk for 11km and the walk is for around 6 hours. We will enter Upper Mustang today itself. We stop for check post to show our document of restricted area permits. Mt. Nilgiri is seen today. Today it is can be windy on the river back of Kali Gandaki River, so we need to wear sunglass and mask.

    Today we meet Tangbe Village, you will see house colour with red and white colour. Barley fields and apple farm is picturesque. Chele is another beautiful village where we spend overnight.

    Todays trek is about 12 km. Today walking is about 6 hours. We have to drink lots of fluids and we gain altitude of around 800 m. It is little bit of challenging so slow ascending should be done. We also cross a pass called Taklam La 3625m, we also cross another pass Taklam La before reaching Samar. The view of Nilgiri is simply best. We can visit Rangchyung Chorten which is colourful and beautiful. We spend overnight at Syangboche.

    The trek from Syangboche to Ghami is about 9 km and it will take 5 to 6 hours. Today we will cross another pass called Yamda La pass (3845m). Before reaching Gelling village we come across barley fields and settlement which are remote. We will meet painted houses today as well. Before reaching Ghami we cross Nyi La 4015m.

    Today we will trek for about 11 km and the walk is about 6 hours. Today we will trek in dry part. Tsarang is a big village about 1000 people living and we can explore the village to see the people and culture.

    Today’s walk is about 12 km and the walk is about 5 hours. First part of the trek is flat land and we go uphill. Today we will cross a pass called Lo La pass. We can see Lo Manthang from far and as we enter the Lo Manthang we can explore it.

    Actually Lo Manthang is historical site. It has almost 150 houses. It used to be a capital city before. The royal palace is worth visiting. Aslo houses are tall made out of mud-brick and walls. We will visit monasteries and Gombas. The art, architecture, houses, monasteries makes it unique.

    Today we will cover of 16 km in about 7 hours. Our trek direction will be towards Kagbeni. We will head back to Drakmar. We can explore Ghar Monastery. It has beautiful paint on wall. We will then walk back to Ghami.

    Trekking from Ghami to Samar is about 13 km and it will take us about 7 hours. We will walk through remote and arid landscape. Today we will cross Chemi La and Yiu La passes and finally reach Geling and Syangboche. Finally we reach Samar. There are plenty of mani walls, monasteries and farmlands.

    Todays trekking route is about 10 km and it will be about 6 hours. Today we will walk back to Kali Gandaki river bank. Trek further goes to Chhusang.

    Crossing 14 km we reach Muktinath from Chhusang and it is about 7 hours of walk. We have to cross Gyu La Pass (4077m). We meet the road to Annapurna circuit but than we cross the trial. The pass has beautiful view of snow capped peaks. We come across several villages and reach Muktinath. It is holy place for both Hindu and Buddhist. The eternal fame is nice to see.

    The trek length is 22km and it will take about 6-7 hours to reach Jomsom from Muktinath. Today is the last day of our trek. We comedown to Jharkot- Khingar and finally reach Jomsom. At Khingar we will pay a visit to monastery. Jomsom is a town in a mountain which has markets, hotels and restaurants.

    Early morning we go to airport to fly to Pokhara. And day on your own. Explore Pokhara. It is a tourist hub of Nepal.

    The drive is about 8 hours, the distance is 200 km. We follow the river Marshyangdi and Trishuli. The flight is about 25 minute to Kathmandu. Free day on your own.

    3 hours before you flight time you take you to airport to fly back home.
